Nearpod is an interactive presentation and assessment tool that can be used to facilitate active learning in the classroom. Thousands of pre-created lessons are available to explore, or teachers can easily import their existing lessons and add interactive features such as Virtual Field Trips, Quizzes, Polls, Open-Ended Questions, and much more! This synchronous webinar will show you how Nearpod can support critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity in your classroom.

Audience:  In-Person Classroom Instructors who are willing to allow students to use mobile devices in the classroom -- any grade level!

Required Materials for Webinar:  Participants should have two devices for this webinar. A cellphone or tablet is needed for the sample lesson and a second device for viewing the webinar presentation simultaneously. A computer and a cellphone are a perfect combo for this webinar!

Upon completion of the Nearpod in the Classroom webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Participate in a sample lesson using their mobile device.
  • Explore and edit the previously created library of lessons available for download.
  • Create an interactive Nearpod lesson using existing lessons
  • Utilize Nearpod in the classroom for an engaging, interactive presentation.
  • Retrieve reports of student assessment data that was collected using Nearpod.

Kimberly Ellis



Kimberly Ellis has a Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Technology Education, and 11 years teaching experience. Kimberly has a passion for seeing students excel in the classroom, and currently serves as the Instructional Design Coordinator at Pearl River Community College, which is part of the Mississippi Virtual Community College (MSVCC) consortium. As Instructional Design Coordinator, Kimberly helps ensure high-quality online courses through training, support, and evaluation feedback. However, Kimberly’s niche in this role is to help instructors create engaging learning activities and compelling course content. Kimberly has extensive experience using Blackboard and Canvas learning management systems.

Kimberly believes that in order to be successful in something, you have to be self-motivated and pursue ongoing professional and personal development. She considers herself to be a lifelong learner and has most recently completed the following: Apple Teacher Certification, Google Educator Level 1 Certification, Quality Matters (QM) Peer Reviewer course, Applying the QM Rubric course, and QM Coordinator Training course. She voluntary commits herself to lifelong learning to excel in her career passions.

Kimberly also enjoys spending time with her husband and teenage daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring new restaurants, traveling, going to the pottery or yoga studio, and shopping.
