This synchronous webinar will show the importance of student engagement and demonstrate various synchronous and asynchronous learning tools to keep students engaged in an online course.

At the end of this webinar, the participant will be able to:

  • Create a welcoming and inviting community in their online course.
  • Create engagement in their online course.
  • Incorporate immediacy in their online course.

Katherine Puckett



Katherine Puckett has been teaching online for Hinds Community College for 16 years. In addition to teaching online, she has also taught in the classroom for Hinds. She has been the Social Sciences Lead Online Instructor for 10 years, and Katherine has served as the Instructional Design Coordinator for about 5 years.

She loves teaching and working with faculty and students. Serving as both the Instructional Design Coordinator and adjunct faculty has helped Katherine to tap into the needs of Hinds' instructors no matter what mode they teach! Her goal is to provide LOTS of training to faculty that supports their growth in instructional and assessment practices for higher education.
