Canvas Groups provide a good place to collaborate on projects or to figure out schedules for study sessions. This synchronous webinar will show you how to set up a Canvas Group and provide a general overview of groups.

At the end of this webinar, the participant will be able to: 

  • Explain the benefits of group work.
  • Differentiate instructor permissions and student permissions in Canvas groups.
  • Create groups in Canvas.
  • Create a group assignment and rules of engagement for groups.

Katherine Puckett



Katherine Puckett has been teaching online for Hinds Community College for 16 years. In addition to teaching online, she has also taught in the classroom for Hinds. She has been the Social Sciences Lead Online Instructor for 10 years, and Katherine has served as the Instructional Design Coordinator for about 5 years.

She loves teaching and working with faculty and students. Serving as both the Instructional Design Coordinator and adjunct faculty has helped Katherine to tap into the needs of Hinds' instructors no matter what mode they teach! Her goal is to provide LOTS of training to faculty that supports their growth in instructional and assessment practices for higher education.
