Full course description

Portfolio assessment is an excellent way for students to earn college credit recommendations through their ability to demonstrate their cumulative learning and experiences in a written paper. Students relate their learning to specific college course outcomes or competencies and provide evidence of their learning. This workshop, geared toward faculty members and academic administrators responsible for student assessment, provides participants with a foundational background in prior learning assessment, the nature and structure of portfolios, and an opportunity to develop their skills in assessing both undergraduate and graduate level learning portfolios and providing clear and supportive feedback to students. Participants will review sample assessment rubrics and will have an opportunity to assess multiple portfolios for practice.

Outcome: Participants who wish to achieve CAEL Faculty Assessor Certification will complete the process in a self-directed online assessment module upon the conclusion of the workshop.
